Recently, due to heavy rain in various parts of mainland China, a dam along the Dongting Lake in Hunan burst, with the breach widening to 150 meters and causing a mudslide towards the city area, prompting the urgent relocation of 5,755 people. Chinese leaders Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang both commented on the rescue operations. Xi Jinping instructed timely evacuation and proper resettlement of the affected population, while reinforcements were dispatched to the site. Financial support of 540 million RMB was also allocated for disaster relief efforts due to the flooding crisis in the area.
