Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban made a surprise visit to Beijing on July 8, informing Chinese President Xi Jinping about his recent visits to Ukraine and Russia. Xi Jinping proposed three principles for the Russia-Ukraine conflict: no spillover of battles, no escalation of conflict, and no instigation of fire, urging all parties to quickly de-escalate the situation. Orban's visit to China follows Xi's visit to Hungary in May, where they focused on the Belt and Road Initiative and Chinese investments in Hungary's electric vehicle industry. Xi congratulated Orban on Hungary assuming the EU Presidency and both leaders discussed the Ukraine crisis, with Xi emphasizing the importance of a ceasefire and seeking a political solution in line with the interests of all parties.
