Hurricane Beryl Hits Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula

Reported about 1 year ago

Hurricane Beryl made landfall just northeast of Tulum on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula with maximum sustained winds near 110 miles per hour. The storm brought strong winds, dangerous storm surge, and heavy rain, prompting hurricane warnings along the Mayan Riviera, including Costa Maya port to Cancun. Local evacuations were carried out, airports suspended operations, and schools were canceled in Yucatan and Quintana Roo. Beryl, previously a Category 5 storm, weakened but left a trail of destruction in the Caribbean before hitting Mexico.
