Hurricane Beryl Strikes Cayman Islands with Strong Winds

Reported 12 months ago

Hurricane Beryl is heading towards the Cayman Islands after causing destruction in Jamaica. The Category 3 storm, initially a Category 4, is approaching Grand Cayman with 120 mph winds. Beryl, which hit Caribbean islands earlier this week as a rare Category 5 storm, is expected to bring storm surges up to 4 feet and heavy rain. The hurricane may impact oil installations on the US Gulf coast and is forecasted to make landfall in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Market and humanitarian impacts are being assessed as the storm progresses.
