In a tragic event in Sanzhong District, New Taipei City, on July 9, 2024, a 43-year-old woman surnamed Liu was found stabbed and bleeding at home by her mother, with about seven stab wounds. Despite being rushed to Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei for emergency treatment, Liu passed away around 6 p.m. Police investigations revealed no signs of forced entry at their residence, but Liu's 42-year-old husband, surnamed Liao, and their young son were missing. Liao and the child were later found deceased in a car under Matzao Bridge in Beitou District. Police suspect that Liao first suffocated the child before taking his own life with a tool.
