Hyundai and Kia are recalling more than 208,000 electric vehicles to address a potential issue that could lead to a loss of drive power, raising the risk of accidents. The recall affects over 145,000 Hyundai and Genesis models, including the Ioniq series and G80, as well as nearly 63,000 Kia EV6 vehicles. The problem stems from a damaged transistor in the charging control unit that may stop charging the 12-volt battery. Owners will be informed via letters in December and January about the necessary inspections and repairs at dealerships.
