Hyundai Motor Group announced plans to start producing IONIQ 5 electric SUVs at its new plant in Georgia this fall. The $7.6 billion EV and battery plant near Savannah is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter. The plant, initially set to open in 2025, was expedited to take advantage of incentives for domestic EV production. The facility is projected to employ 8,500 workers and manufacture 300,000 EVs annually, making it Georgia's largest economic development project with $2.1 billion in tax incentives.
