Illegal Fireworks Display at Hehuanshan Dark Sky Park Leads to Fines

On July 2, 2024, a tourist was caught ignoring the ban and setting off fireworks at Hehuanshan, the first internationally certified dark sky park in Taiwan located within Taroko National Park. The individual will be fined between 1500 to 3000 NTD. The park, situated over 3000 meters above sea level, is a prime stargazing spot and those found violating regulations, such as the prohibition of fireworks, may face penalties. Authorities are working to prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
