At least 34 people have died and dozens hospitalized in Tamil Nadu, Southern India, after consuming illegally brewed liquor tainted with methanol. The incident in Kallakurichi district has left over 100 people being treated, with the death toll possibly rising. Government officials have taken action against those responsible, and illegal alcohol-related deaths are unfortunately common in India due to the sale of unregulated and often toxic liquor to the poor.
