Keelung Port busted a cannabis smuggling case with a market value exceeding 140 million New Taiwan Dollars. A drug syndicate illegally smuggled cannabis flowers from Thailand in mid-January by falsely declaring them as car parts for import, and then, with the help of accomplices, dismantled the container to transport drugs. The whole scheme was unveiled during customs inspection at Keelung Customs Office, leading to the arrest of two suspects while one main suspect named Chen is still on the run, with an arrest warrant issued. The case involved seizing 131.3 kilograms of cannabis flowers estimated at 140 million NTD in value. Prosecutors explained that during a routine cargo examination by Keelung Customs, a large quantity of cannabis flowers were discovered hidden in a container declared as car parts from Thailand, with a net weight of approximately 131.3 kilograms and a market value exceeding 140 million NTD. The case remains under investigation to dismantle drug trafficking activities aimed at guarding public health as part of the government's anti-drug efforts.
