The Taiwan Railway Company reported a theft where cables were stolen, leading to signal anomalies on a freight line. The police in Hualien found the suspect hiding stolen items, ambushed and captured him despite his attempt to flee by climbing over a wall and riding a motorcycle. The thief, disguised as a railway worker, had stolen around 50 meters of cable, intending to sell it for scrap. He was ultimately apprehended by the police for aggravated theft and public endangerment.
