Improved Reservoir Levels Across Taiwan Due to Rainfall from Monsoon Fronts, Only 1 Area Continues to Receive Water Reminder

Reported 7 months ago

The Economic Ministry's Water Resources Agency announced on June 14 that recent rainfall from monsoon fronts has significantly increased the water levels in major reservoirs across Taiwan. With enhanced water control, inter-regional water supply scheduling, industrial water conservation, and agricultural irrigation management, reservoir levels have risen, allowing for successful rice cultivation and stable water supply for residents and industries. As a result, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung see water reminders being lifted to normal status, while Taoyuan maintains the water reminder status. However, the Shimen Reservoir watershed has only received 56% of average rainfall so far this year, prompting water conservation efforts and the utilization of alternate water sources to support irrigation needs, especially in the absence of ample rainfall in the area.
