Reported about 1 year ago
In New Taipei City, the father of police officer Yang Ting-hao, who died on duty three years ago, raised concerns about the poor condition of the police cemetery where his son was laid to rest. He criticized the government’s neglect, prompting improvements in the facilities. Yang's father advocated for the establishment of a new cemetery in central Taiwan, closer to where many officers come from, and his efforts were met with progress as a site is being sought in Kaohsiung City. Despite not being in the central region, he hopes a similar location will be established there soon. This is his greatest wish in his lifetime. He also addressed nearby residents' protests against the cemetery, emphasizing the sacrifice of the fallen officers and calling for empathy. Recent officers buried include Xue Ding-yue from Xizhi Police Precinct in New Taipei City, Yang Ting-hao from Shulin Police Precinct, and Su Yu-hung from Badu Police Substation in Keelung City, all of whom tragically died while on duty.
