According to an article by Apple Daily News on June 26, 2024, the duty-free allowance for inbound passengers in Taiwan has been increased from 20,000 NTD to 35,000 NTD starting today. The Ministry of Finance made this adjustment after over 30 years considering factors like inflation, national income, international prices, and trends. With an estimated 29 million inbound travelers annually, the Customs Administration estimates an annual tax loss of around 3.05 million NTD. This adjustment aims to align with duty-free allowances in neighboring Asian countries and accommodate the rising consumer price index in Taiwan.
