Increase in Duty-Free Allowance to 35,000 Starting Tomorrow for Overseas Shoppers

Reported 8 months ago

Starting from tomorrow, the Ministry of Finance announced that the duty-free allowance for incoming travelers' luggage will be increased from the current 20,000 to 35,000. The new regulations will officially take effect, allowing incoming travelers to bring in items valued at up to 35,000 tax-free, except for tobacco, alcohol, and controlled items. If the value exceeds 35,000, travelers must declare at the red line customs counter upon entry. This adjustment marks the first increase in the duty-free allowance in over 30 years, aiming to address concerns about the low limit set in 1989. Travelers engaged in obvious commercial activities or with a record of frequent border crossings and violations will not qualify for duty-free benefits.
