Minister of Labor, Hsu Shiau-lan, explained the small-scale trial for importing Indian migrant workers, which is estimated to not exceed 1,000 people initially focusing on manufacturing industry and not considering the service industry for now. This marks the first attempt at direct hiring through a government-to-government (G to G) approach, unlike the traditional domestic methods. The initiative will follow the Taiwan-India Memorandum of Understanding allowing the recruitment of job types and quotas to be determined by the Taiwanese government, prioritizing experienced businesses with good management skills in hiring migrant workers.
