Mobile Premier League (MPL) in India will terminate approximately 60% of its local staff, around 300 out of 500 employees, in response to the government’s recent ban on paid online games. This law, implemented to address concerns of financial risks and addiction among youth, has led to significant downsizing in the industry, which was previously projected to reach $3.6 billion. MPL's CEO expressed regret over the tough decision and highlighted the impact this change will have on their revenue in India.
