The Indian social media platform Koo is discontinuing its services due to failed partnership talks, as announced by CEO Aprameya Radhakrishna and co-founder Mayank Bidawatka in a LinkedIn post. The shutdown is attributed to funding challenges and high technology costs. Koo gained popularity in 2021 following a dispute between Twitter and Indian lawmakers, prompting users to switch to the domestic micro-blogging platform. Talks of an acquisition by Dailyhunt in February did not materialize, despite Koo having raised over $60 million from investors like Tiger Global and Accel.
