Indonesian President has ordered an audit of government data centers after a recent cyberattack revealed that the majority of affected data was not backed up, leaving the country vulnerable to such attacks. The ransomware attack disrupted various government services and impacted more than 230 public agencies. The government refused to pay the $8 million ransom demanded to retrieve the data, while the state auditor will examine governance and financial aspects. Critics blamed the lack of backup on governance failures and budget constraints, leading to calls for the resignation of the communications minister responsible for cybersecurity.
