On June 28, 2024, an Indonesian fisherman aboard the Taiwanese vessel 'Ming Tsai Fa 7' suffered an amputation of his right thumb due to a work accident. The Coast Guard was notified and dispatched a patrol ship to assist. On June 29, they successfully transported the patient using a helicopter in coordination with air unit personnel, ensuring the severed digit was preserved on ice. The fisherman was then taken to the hospital for urgent medical care following the incident.
