Indonesian Flores Island volcano erupts twice a day, with 900-meter ash cloud

Indonesian authorities announced that Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki on the eastern Flores Island erupted twice on June 29, with a thick ash cloud reaching the sky. The volcano is currently at the second-highest alert level. This volcano had several major eruptions in January and erupted again on June 29. Authorities have prohibited activities within a 3-kilometer radius of the eruption center. Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is located on the tourist destination Flores Island, where in January, several major eruptions occurred, prompting the authorities to raise the alert status to the highest level and evacuate at least 2,000 residents.
