Indonesia's Communications Minister stated that the country is ready to shut down social media platform X if it fails to comply with regulations prohibiting adult content. The warning comes after X, formerly known as Twitter, updated its policies to allow consensually produced adult content. The minister emphasized the consequences under Indonesia's electronic information and transaction (ITE) law, which includes a six-year jail sentence for spreading pornographic material. X, owned by Elon Musk, has not responded to the warning letter, and the Indonesian government plans further action if necessary. Indonesia has strict rules against sharing obscene content online, with X having 24.85 million users in the country according to data from Statista.
