In the perpetual tropical climate of Southeast Asia, the cold chain is crucial in reducing high losses during the transportation of agricultural products. Many countries in the region have prioritized the development of the cold chain. Under the guidance of the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) collaborated with the Taiwan Chain & Franchise Promotion Association, the Taiwan Cold Chain Association, and signed a cooperation agreement with Malaysia's Sudu Emas Group at the 2024 Taipei International Chain & Franchise Startup Summer Exhibition. They aim to jointly expand the Malaysian cold chain market. This collaboration will utilize Taiwan Chain & Franchise Promotion Association member products as the service target and leverage the expertise in cold chain storage and transportation technology and hardware-software integration planning from the joint efforts of the Taiwan Cold Chain Association and ITRI. Through the Halal training and certification services provided by the Sudu Emas Group, they aim to accelerate the export of Taiwanese products to the Halal market. The partnership envisions building a platform for Southern cold chain cooperation and service demonstrations and aims to establish a National Cold Chain Team by leading around 20 Taiwanese cold chain solution enterprises. The cooperation will focus on pre-certification system services to help businesses expedite international food certifications and enhance cooperation with local businesses, aiming to promote small and medium-sized food businesses' expansion in Southeast Asia and international markets. The collaboration's expected benefits include establishing overseas cold chain logistics hubs to enhance Taiwan's overseas food supply chain and promoting synergy by collaborating with over 20 companies to expand the pre-certification service product range, ensuring continuous cold chain quality services through AIoT cold chain technology to reduce cross-border obstacles and innovate the food industry for further penetration into the Southeast Asian food market.
