Josef Newgarden secured his second consecutive Indy 500 victory, marking the 20th overall win for team owner Roger Penske. Newgarden's win came after a thrilling final lap battle with Pato O’Ward, who briefly took the lead but was overtaken by Newgarden in Turn 3. The race featured multiple lead changes and a record-setting number of different leaders. Kyle Larson, attempting "The Double," chose to stay in Indianapolis and qualified fifth for his first-ever IndyCar race but finished 18th due to penalties. This year's Indy 500 also featured traditions such as the singing of "Back Home Again in Indiana" and the winner kissing the bricks.
