Inflation Remains High: Fruit Prices Increase the Most, Dining Out, Rent, and Medical Expenses Continue to Rise

According to the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, in June 2024, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 2.42%, the highest in almost four months, with fruit prices surging by 22.6% due to unstable weather conditions. Additionally, rent increased by 2.59%, hitting a 28-year high, while medical expenses rose by 6.24%, reaching an 18-year high. Dining out costs increased by 2.78%, remaining at high levels, contributing to the overall expansion of the CPI. The cumulative inflation rate for the first half of the year reached 2.27%, surpassing the 2% inflation warning line. The report also highlighted that if fruit prices decrease in July, the CPI will remain similar to June, but if the trend continues to rise, the CPI for July will expand.
