Instagram users in the U.S. experienced issues with accessing the platform, viewing stories, uploading posts, and sending direct messages as reported by DownDetector.com. The problems peaked around 12:30 PM Pacific time, leading to panic among users ahead of the holiday weekend. Parent company Meta was investigating the cause and promised an update by 5 PM Pacific time, while their Facebook service seemed to be unaffected. Instagram had faced similar outages earlier in the year.
