Intel battles AMD with new data center chips

Intel launched its next generation Xeon server processors at Computex, aiming to regain data center market share from AMD. The new sixth generation Xeon chips come in two versions - a more powerful model and an 'efficiency' model. Intel's Gaudi 3 AI accelerator chips are priced lower than competitors like Nvidia, with the efficiency Xeon chip already available and the performance model set for release in the third quarter. Intel also announced its Lunar Lake laptop chip, boasting 40% less power usage and a more powerful AI processor, to be shipped in the third quarter.
