Reported 6 months ago

The Central Bank raised interest rates by half a percentage point in March 2024, and with the short-term fund demand increasing in May due to tax filings, the interbank weighted average rate rose to 0.815% in May, surpassing the 0.8% mark seen in April, setting a new high for a single month in nearly 15 and a half years since January 2009. The interbank rate even soared to 0.829% on the tax filing deadline day of May 31, marking the highest point in almost 15 and a half years. Market analysts noted that fund pressure remains high in June, with rates staying above 0.82%, and opinions on whether the Central Bank will raise rates in the second quarter remain divided.
