Tomorrow (6/30) is International Asteroid Day, and tonight (6/29) the Taipei Astronomical Museum announced that an asteroid will pass closely by Earth at 10 PM. The museum will be live streaming the event. International Asteroid Day was established by the United Nations in 2016 to commemorate significant asteroid impacts and raise awareness about potential asteroid collision risks. The museum interviewed experts to provide insights on asteroids and will livestream the close encounter of asteroid 2024 MK with Earth tonight, offering viewers a chance to witness the event. However, scientists have not identified any asteroids that pose a confirmed threat of collision with Earth at the moment.
