In the Zhongshan Commercial District in Taipei City, a large number of businesses have recently been targeted with reports, threatening closure if not in compliance with land use regulations within two months. Businesses formed a self-help association and a 'Do Not Separate from Zhongshan Business District' declaration on Facebook in response. Taipei City's Urban Development Bureau explained that the main issue stemmed from numerous reports received in April, leading to administrative guidance for violating businesses. A solution provided by an official allows for exemption from penalties if conditions are met. Allegations suggest that investors may be behind the reports, aiming to force out businesses for property redevelopment purposes, as shop owners have received inquiries about rent, property sales, and redevelopment over the past six months.
