Iranian Fugitive Who Stole 100 Million Yen 23 Years Ago Caught in Osaka for Using Fake Passport and Matching Fingerprints

Reported about 1 year ago

At 5:43 am on July 8, 2024, Japanese police arrested a 51-year-old Iranian fugitive who robbed a cash transport vehicle 23 years ago by matching his fingerprints at Kansai Airport. The suspect, Timuri Shajani Mohsen, denied any involvement in the robbery. Mohsen, an Iranian national, was caught using a forged French passport, leading to his arrest when his fingerprints matched those of a wanted criminal in the system. The case dates back to 2001 when a cash transport vehicle near JA Tokyo Musashi Hanakoganei Branch was robbed of over 100 million yen in Tokyo. After being deported for illegal residency soon after the robbery, Mohsen was arrested on charges of robbery and injury upon re-entry into Japan. This arrest has reignited the investigation for the remaining fugitive involved in the robbery.
