In the early morning of July 2, 2024, a suspected artillery shell was discovered in the city of Yuanlin in Changhua County, Taiwan. The military was notified and identified the object as an Israeli-made illumination shell, which had already been fired and posed no danger. The military took precautions to prevent panic by transporting the shell to a destruction site. The origin of the shell is still being investigated, as Taiwan's military does not use Israeli illumination shells, leading to speculation that it may have entered the country as scrap metal or been obtained by a civilian collector through other means.
