Rome's Fiumicino Airport is poised for growth as a hub for long-haul flights following Lufthansa's acquisition of a stake in ITA Airways, according to its CEO, Marco Troncone. With this partnership, ITA aims to enhance access to Latin American and African markets, leveraging Lufthansa's extensive network to attract more international travelers. While ITA currently holds less than 10% of the intercontinental flight market share in Italy, there are plans to expand ground operations and lounge facilities at the airport to support increasing passenger traffic.
