Italian Authorities Seize Six Tons of Chinese 'Drug Precursors'

Reported about 1 year ago

Italian financial police have seized two shipments containing enough 'drug precursors' to produce 63 million ecstasy pills, which could 'flood' the European market. Two Chinese citizens were arrested in the Netherlands as part of a two-year investigation coordinated with Eurojust, along with an Italian businessman in Milan. The investigation began in 2022 when a batch of powder seized at an airport in Milan was found to be PMK, a compound used in making ecstasy, despite being initially labeled as polyester powder coating. Further shipments of precursors, including BMK, used in manufacturing amphetamines, were discovered in warehouses, emphasizing the significant impact of the operation on drug trafficking in Europe.
