Italian Court Forces Takeover of Dior's Italian Branch Amid Allegations of Forced Labor in China

Reported about 1 year ago

On June 10, 2024, an Italian court announced the forced takeover of Dior's Italian branch due to allegations of lack of oversight regarding forced labor issues in China involving its contractors. The court ruled that Dior Srl in Italy would be under judicial supervision for a year, citing Dior's failure to investigate the working conditions and treatment of employees at its Chinese manufacturing contractors. The parent company, global luxury giant LVMH Group, has not responded to inquiries. This marks the third company in Milan to be placed under supervision for labor issues, following Armani Group in April for similar reasons and another Italian handbag brand last year.
