Italian police have placed four individuals under house arrest in connection with a probe into unauthorized access to state databases. The investigation is focused on a private intelligence firm allegedly run by a former policeman, and among those being investigated is Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, son of the late Luxottica founder. The illicit access, reportedly used for blackmail and selling confidential data, dates back to 2019. Prosecutors highlight concerns about a burgeoning market for confidential information.
