Japan Ensures Stable Supply Chain by Collaborating with Foreign Companies to Increase Domestic Production Rate

Reported 8 months ago

Amid the 'China+1' effect, Japanese enterprises are making efforts to internationalize their operations, especially in the semiconductor sector where Japan is inviting foreign companies like TSMC, Samsung, and Intel to invest in the country. The goal is to establish Rapidus to focus on advanced processes, enhance domestic production rates, and secure a stable source of chip supply. The initiative was triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which caused a global disruption in the supply chain and prompted Japan to reestablish its semiconductor supply chain on its four islands, focusing on nurturing a 'national team' as a top strategy.
