Japan is projected to miss its primary budget surplus target for the fiscal year 2025, as new fiscal estimates reveal increasing pressure on the minority government for more spending. The revised outlook conflicts with earlier forecasts and reflects concerns over Japan's high debt levels, which are more than twice its GDP. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's administration is under pressure to expand the budget to gain favor with voters and the opposition, leading to the proposal of an extra budget worth 13.9 trillion yen.
