On July 4, 2024, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported temperatures soaring above 30 degrees Celsius in Tokyo. The whole country, from East to West, is experiencing a heatwave due to high pressure. Shizuoka City recorded a record-breaking temperature of 39.3°C in the Suruga Ward. In Tokyo, temperatures also reached above 35 degrees, marking the first severe heat day of the year and resulting in 47 people being sent to the hospital due to suspected heatstroke. The Meteorological Agency warned that the high temperatures will continue in Western Japan and advised the public to be cautious of heatstroke.
