LINE Yahoo announced the termination of LINE Pay service in Japan, effective by the end of April 2025, with balances transferrable to the 'PayPay' platform. Services in Taiwan and Thailand will continue unaffected. The decision aims to consolidate overlapping businesses due to the development of 'PayPay' within the group. Credit card and recharge card services under 'LINE Pay' in Japan will also cease. Overseas services in Taiwan and Thailand will remain operational amidst the increasing competition in the mobile payment sector, as companies focus on enhancing competitiveness and consolidating resources.
