Japan has appointed Atsushi Mimura as the new vice finance minister for international affairs, replacing Masato Kanda. The move comes as the Japanese yen reaches its weakest levels in nearly four decades. Mimura, who currently heads the MOF’s international bureau, will continue advocating for a stable currency. The weakening yen has led to concerns about cost-push inflation and the need for interventions to support the currency.
