In January, Japanese household spending experienced a 0.8% increase compared to the same month last year, as reported by the internal affairs ministry. This figure fell short of analysts' expectations, which had predicted a rise of 3.6%. Additionally, when adjusted for seasonal factors, spending dropped by 4.5% month-on-month, exceeding the anticipated decline of 1.9%.
