Japan's Tax Revenue Reaches 72.1 Trillion Yen Last Year, Setting New High for 4 Consecutive Years

According to Japanese Ministry of Finance officials interviewed by Japanese media on July 1st, the national general accounting tax revenue for the fiscal year 2023 reached 72.1 trillion yen (approximately 14.5467 trillion New Taiwan dollars), exceeding the previous record of 71.1373 trillion yen (14.3525 trillion New Taiwan dollars) in fiscal year 2022, setting a new high for the 4th consecutive year. This increase is attributed to strong income tax and corporate tax revenues due to good corporate performance, reflecting historic price increases and a rise in consumption tax revenue. The Ministry of Finance is expected to release an official announcement soon.
