Japan's chief trade negotiator Ryosei Akazawa is set to travel to Washington to urge President Trump's signing of an executive order to implement a reduction in tariffs on Japanese auto imports from 27.5% to 15%. While duties on other Japanese goods will be cut starting Thursday, Akazawa emphasized the need to ensure that existing tariffs exceeding 15% would not incur additional charges. Japan also plans to invest up to $550 billion in U.S. supply chains, reaffirming its commitment to the agreed terms.
