Japanese Bank Executives Accept Pay Cuts Following Theft Scandal

Reported 2 days ago

Executives at MUFG Bank in Japan have taken pay cuts and issued apologies after an employee was arrested for allegedly stealing around 1.4 billion yen (approximately $9 million) in valuables from safe deposit boxes over four years. The employee, Yukari Iwamura, was dismissed after the thefts were revealed last October. The bank's leaders, including Chairman Naoki Hori and CEO Junichi Hanzawa, are taking reductions of 30% for three months as part of the bank's efforts to enhance security and compensate affected customers.
