Japanese Gamers Upset! Petition Calls for a Halt to the Sale of 'Assassin's Creed: Shadows'

Reported about 1 year ago

The release of video games can sometimes spark controversies, and this year's notable examples are 'Elden Ring' and 'Assassin's Creed: Shadows.' While 'Elden Ring' gained exposure and success despite criticism, 'Assassin's Creed: Shadows,' set in feudal Japan, faced backlash for historical inaccuracies like the portrayal of a non-Japanese historical figure as a samurai and inconsistencies in architectural details. Over 36,000 Japanese gamers have signed a petition demanding that the game be taken off shelves, highlighting the challenges faced when trying to cater to Eastern gamers. Despite the petition, it's unlikely Ubisoft will alter their release plans. (C) 2024 Ubisoft Entertainment. All Rights Reserved.
