Himeji Castle, a famous tourist spot in Japan, might see a significant increase in ticket prices. Due to issues like overtourism, the mayor of Himeji, Hideyoshi Cleon, mentioned in a press conference that the current fee of $7 for foreign visitors is too low and plans to raise it four times to $30. Currently, the castle has a unified entrance fee where adult tickets cost 1000 yen (around $7), and student tickets cost 300 yen. The increased revenue will be used for castle maintenance and addressing overtourism issues, although the implementation timeline and exact prices are yet to be confirmed.
