Japanese households face more pain from weak yen

Reported 8 months ago

Veteran Bank of Japan (BOJ) watcher Izuru Kato warned that Japanese households are experiencing difficulties due to the central bank's slow normalization of loose monetary policy, leading to a weakening yen. The weak yen has caused challenges for policymakers by increasing the cost of imported raw materials, raising inflation, and impacting consumer spending. Kato suggested that the BOJ might raise interest rates and adjust its policies to address the negative economic effects of the weak currency.
