Hero, a Malayan tapir from Yokohama Zoo in Japan, arrived in Taiwan for an exchange with Taipei Zoo but was found lifeless upon arrival on June 21. An autopsy was conducted on June 22, and Taipei Zoo will provide further explanations. The 2-year-old tapir was intended for breeding purposes and its sudden death surprised and saddened many. Taipei Zoo, amidst the summer season, will extend its hours starting July 6 for the 'Night FUN Zoo' event featuring various activities to celebrate its 110th anniversary.
