On the morning of June 28, 2024, the Japanese Finance Official Shinjin Kanda is set to step down. The Japanese government announced personnel changes in the Ministry of Finance, with Kanda, who had directed foreign exchange interventions, stepping down on July 31 after 3 years. He will be succeeded by Jun Mimura, the current International Bureau Chief. Kanda joined the Ministry in 1987 and had a master's degree in economics from Oxford. Mimura, with experience in key positions in the Financial Bureau, is well-versed in international finance. Finance Minister Toshifumi Suzuki expressed confidence in Mimura's capabilities to take over from Kanda.
